Overview

The Network

PDZnet focuses on understanding the fundamental cellular aspects and therapeutic potential of protein-protein interactions mediated by proteins comprising PDZ domains. PDZnet is the first European research platform that integrates a plethora of complementary life science disciplines to promote frontline research, innovation and education within protein-protein interactions and PDZ-mediated signaling in particular.

The PDZnet network is composed of 11 academic research groups and 3 industrial partners across 6 European countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Sweden).

The PDZnet partners are all committed to create an outstanding training program for PhD fellows to elucidate the mechanisms of PDZ-mediated protein signaling pathways and potentially develop new therapeutic candidates for cancer and neurological diseases.

In an extensive training effort covering individual and network-wide training activities, 14 PhD fellows will obtain an interdisciplinary, state-of-the-art and innovative training. The program also provides the PhD fellows with training in transferrable skills including scientific writing and illustration, project management and patenting. The PhD fellows will benefit from intersectoral, interdisciplinary and international mobility that will prepare them for a career in academia or industry across Europe.

 

 

Research

In four interdisciplinary and complementary research work packages the PDZnet network will advance the understanding of PDZ domain proteins as molecular hubs for cell signaling and as therapeutic targets for treating cancer and neurological diseases.

Open positions

We train PhD fellows to become independent, creative and innovative scientist by providing cutting-edge knowledge, a diverse and comprehensive technology platform, and transferable skills training making the young researchers attractive candidates for research positions in academia or industry.
